On the occasion of World Geriatric Day, which is observed on 1st October, an oral hygiene awareness and dental checkup camp was organized by Prosthodontic department of Peoples College of Dental Sciences & Research Centre, Bhopal under the banner of Indian Prosthodontic society, Bhopal branch at Sewa Bharti- Anand Dham.
In this camp, a total of 27 patients were examined. A talk on oral hygiene awareness and geriatric nutrition was conducted for geriatric patients followed by fruits distribution.
With an aim to set a world record by planting six crore saplings on July 2, Hon Chief minister of MP Sri Shivraj Singh Chouhan had assigned targets to 24 districts in which river Narmada flows to cover 1077 km in Madhya Pradesh.
As part of this ambitious project, plantation in the Peoples University campus with the aim of creating awareness about environmental protection was carried out on 02-07-2017. Shri Mukul Gupta, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Govindpura was the chief guest for the occasiton. He delivered the message of environmental protection to the students of People’s University and said that trees are our heritage. Their plantation is therefore necessary that the future generation and future will be safe. Trees have no cost but are most important for life.
Hon Vice Chancellor of People’s Univsrsity, Dr V.K. Pandya stressed the fact that, plantation is being done throughout the year, in out campus. He said that tree plantation is very important in controlling environmental pollution. Through such plantation drives, we can contribute our effort to make the environment healthy. The faculty members along with the students took part in the plantation drive in large numbers. About 500 saplings were planted on the day across the People’s campus. Also, Project Director Col Ashok Khurana said that it is not necessary that plantation should be done only on the plantation day itself. Such programs should be done throughout the year, so that more and more plants can be planted. At the same time, the public should also look after the trees with full dedication. Various dignitaries including the registrar , Dr Neeraja Mallik, Head of Institutions, Faculties of different institutions were present on this occasion. A large number of students from People’s College of Dental Sciences took part in this event.
An event “Future Dental Professionals” was conducted for the graduate & Postgraduate students of PCDS & RC & PDA in collaboration with Indian Dental Association (IDA) Bhopal and Colgate on 30th June 2017.
A total of 350 students attended the event which had enlightening Lectures by Dr. Swapnil Parlani, Dr. Ashwini Deshpande and Dr. Kirti Jajoo ont he future of BDS, Prosthodontics need and recent advances in Implants. The entire programme was organized and coordinated by Dr. Swapnil Parlani, Professor and Dr. Garima Bhambani, Sr. Lecturer under the able guidance of Dean Dr. Shaji Thomas.
The programme was graced by the presence the President IDA Bhopal, Dr. Utkarsh Katare, Secretory IDA Bhopal, Dr. Alok Diwan and Hon. Treasurer, Dr. Saurav Dantre, IDA Bhopal.
World yoga day was celebrated at People’s College of Dental Sciences on 21st June 2017.The objectives of the program were to create awareness of how yoga can heal the physical and mental diseases,to promote better mental,physical and spiritual development ,to enhance growth,development and spread peace all throughout the world.
The chief guest for the function was Dr Neerja Mallick (Registrar ,People’s University). The function was attended by HOD’s of various departments, staff and students of the institution. On this occassion, the registrar , People’s University Dr Neeraja Mallick and yoga trainer Ms Adeena Khan were felicitated by Dr Shreenivas Kallianpur (Officiating Dean,PCDS) . The coordinators for the event were Dr Rinky Ahuja(Staff Reprentative, Anand Vibhag ,PCDS) and Dr Parimala Tyagi(HOD Department of Pedodontics,PCDS)
Various stretching and strengthening poses along with deep breathing techniques ,YogaAsanas ,Pranayama,Mantras were demonstrated by the Yoga Trainer Ms Adeena Khan and her team.
This event was held on 4th of December 2016. Thousands of runners woke up early on a chilly morning and ran along the picturesque Upper lake, to promote fitness among all.
The event saw a good collective participation from staff and students of all the constituent colleges of Peoples University.
There were about 200 participants from PCDS alone, including the Dean, Faculty and students. Dr Amith HV, Professor in Dept of Public Health Dentistry participated in the Half marathon(21 KM) category and finished with a timing of 1 hr and 50 min, and ranked 4th in the age category and 29th overall.
The annual sports and cultural meet of PCDS and RC was celebrated in a grand way in February 2017. There were about 70 events including various sports, cultural and literarary categories, which were planned over a fortnight’s period.
Her Highness Rajmata Gayatri Devi Puar was the chief guest for the annual function. She addressed the students and inspired them by her speech. She gave away prizes to the winners.
Capt Ambrish Sharma, Director Admin, Capt Ruchi Vijaywargia, CEO- Peoples Samachar, Dr Shaji Thomas, Dean PCDS, Dr Sumit Narang, Dean, PDA graced the occasion.
The Department of Public Health Dentistry of peoples college of dental sciences and research centre had celebrated ‘world no tobacco day’ on 31st May 2017 as a part of public health awareness and a skit was performed at peoples hospital as well as peoples college to demonstrate the ill effects of tobacco habits and tips were been given for quitting such habits.
The programme was conducted by Dr. Ajay Bhambal, HOD & Professor, Department of Public Health Dentistry, Dr. Garima Bhambani( Sr.lect), Dr.Tarun Pratap Singh (Sr.lect) alongwith the team of Dr. Priyanka Kushwah (PG resident) and group of interns.
The message was taken with appreciation and people were benefitted by the act. This news was published in People’s samachar too.
A camp was conducted at 40 Quarters, Piplani, on 31-5-17, to commemorate the “World No Tobacco Day” by the department of Oral Medicine & Radiology, PCDS&RC, under the aegis of Indian Academy of Oral Medicine & Radiology. The logistics of the program was managed by CFI, an NGO.
The ill effects of tobacco were elaborated along with the prevalence of cancer and precancer. Methods of tobacco cessation were elaborated along with the importance of self examination for early detection of cancer. The talk was interactive with active participation from the audience.
Patients comprised of children, middle aged and elderly, turned up for oral screening which included mothers and children. A few patients with potentially malignant disorder were diagnosed and referred to PCDS, for further evaluation and treatment. Some patients specifically reported, to be rid of tobacco chewing, and were counseled.
Prosthodontist day celebration were held on 22nd January 2017 at auditorium of People’s college of dental sciences & research centre, which was graced by director administration capt. Ambrish Sharma sir accompanied by Dean PCDS Dr. Shaji Thomas.
The entire Programme was organized and coordianated by the staff and post graduate students of PCDS & RC under the guidance of HOD Dr. Benaiffer Agarwal.
