Program on Awareness on Gender Sensitization


On 20th April 21, 2018 Women Grievance Redressal Committee, People’s College of Dental Sciences, Bhopal organized a talk aiming at the strengthening a woman’s stand in the society in trying to cope up with the present scenario.

Miss Shrishti Mallick, BA, LLB(LLM) from Symbiosis University, Pune was the resource person. She made the audience aware of the Vishaka and the Saksham guidelines by the honorable Supreme Court of India. She helped the female students and the faculty know their legal  rights like the Dowry Prohibition Act (1961), the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act (2006), the Sexual Harassment of Women at Work Place Act (2013). She talked about women reservation, adultery, stalking, etc.

The programme was graced by the presence of Dean, PCDS & RC. Dr. Shaji Thomas, Registrar, Peoples University, Dr. Neerja Mallick and NCC coordinator, People’s University, Capt. Sumi Chaudhary. An audience of 120 participants which included teaching, non teaching staff and students, were benefited.

SOLASTA 2018 – Annual Sports,culturals & Fest

People’s College of Dental Sciences & Research Centre kicked off its sports and cultural extravaganza SOLASTA 2018 on 6 February by unfolding huge banners in the presence of the Dean, Dr Shaji Thomas and staff members. The students of all batches were very enthusiastic on the inaugural function.

The annual fest commenced on 17 February 2018 amidst smiling faces and racing hearts. It was inaugurated by Col Ashok Khurana sir ( Director, Planning & Development) in the presence of staff members and students.

A separate stall was dedicated to Bhopal organ donation society which is a not-for-profit, Non-governmental organization to promote organ donation. The students visited the stall and gathered information about the procedure and many were inspired to be potential donors.With ” Prom” as the theme for this year’s fest, the boys and girls dazzled in their outfits. Mr and Ms PCDS were crowned after the pageant.

The fun and celebrations will continue for a whole week and the PCDS fraternity looks forward to fun filled moments in sports and cultural activities.


On occasion of prosthodontist day ( 22 January), dept of  prosthodontics, PCDS Bhopal, organised a event which had essay competition (Junior and senior category) on topic “God creates….We recreate”, Quiz/Dumb Charades competition for 1st to internship students. The  winner of the essay compettitom was Ms Simran Chhabra ( Intern Batch). The quiz competition was won by First B.D.S Batch with the team compririsng of Shriya Mitna,Supriya Singh and Mehar Shrivastava. Screening of speciality promotional video issued by Indian Prosthodontics Society in college auditorium which was attended by entire staff, and students. Dr.BenaifferAgrawal, HOD addressed the students regarding the importance of world Prosthodontic day and discussed about various treatment modalities included in speciality. Dr.Shaji Thomas , Dean, were the chief guest of the function and congratulated for the successful completion of the event. The event was followed by high tea.

Student council Elections 2017-18



The Student Council Election for 2017-18 was conducted in a Democratic Procedure via Online Voting for an hour 12 am to 1 pm. Total 605 no of votes were registered to elect the members of council. For the post of Cultural President, equal amount of votes came in for two candidates so two members were elected for the post.
Following Students emerged as Winners for the Election:
• President: Joshua Shaji Thomas
• VicePresident: Kuldeep Dubey
• Secretary: Katyanee Sharma
• Cultural President: Shikha Chaturvedi and Rajnandini Aswani
• Intern Representative: Ajay Kumar

Then Victory was celebrated by all the Elected Members and their Supporters in the Campus. Thanks to all students and specially all nominated candidates for great support and enthusiasm.

People’s College of Dental Sciences@LIFELINE EXPRESS 2018

The lifeline express, which is an NGO-managed hospital train, has been routinely conducting treatment camps. At Ghazipur, UP, located 55 kms from Benares, the lifeline express conducted a dental camp from the 8th to 16th of January, 2018. A 7-member team from the People’s College of Dental Sciences, Bhopal led by Dr Preeti Nair, Prof & Head, Dept of Oral Medicine & Radiology, successfully participated in the camp.The other members of the team included Dr Neha Gupta, Senior Lecturer, Dept of Oral Medicine & Radiology,  Dr Ashwini Bhusari and Dr Nalini N R, PG  students, Dept of Prosthodontics, Dr Swati Gurjar , Dept of Conservative & Endodontics, Dr Aashna Dhingra, Dept of Public Health Dentistry& Dr Pratiksh Pawar, PG  student, Dept of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.

About 1280 patients were examined and 520 patients were treated effectively. A school dental camp was conducted which saw a healthy interaction between the children and the doctors.

The members of the team were felicitated by the Railway Minister of UP, Mr Manoj Sinha. The camp was an eye opener in terms of the few cases of malignancy and precancer lesions with people showing signs of choosing to stay away from addictive substances. All in all it was an enriching experience to all.

10th B.D.S. CONVOCATION 2017


On the Tuesday of December 12th, 2017, People’s College of Dental Sciences & Research Centre under People’s University hosted the Graduation Ceremony for their Undergraduates. The degree in Bachelor of Dental Surgery was awarded to 96 students.

The occasion was graced by Dr. Neeraj Upmanyu, the Officiating Vice-Chancellor, People’s University, Dr. Neeraja Mallik, Registrar, People’s University and Dr. Amit Dixit, Dean, People’s College of Medical Sciences and Research Centre.

The graduating students entered the ceremonial hall, in a ‘Graduation March’, led by the Dean, Vice Dean, Dignitaries and Head of the Departments, displaying the significance of discipline and order in the life of doctors.

A floral welcome of the Dignitaries was done by the Dean, People’s College of Dental Sciences and Research Centre, Dr. Shaji Thomas, the Vice Dean Dr. Ajay Bhambal and Head of the Departments.

The ceremony began with the traditional lamp lighting by the dignitaries followed by the Invocation of Goddess Saraswati. The ceremony was then formally called open by the Dean. Dr. Oshi Chaturvedi and Dr. Shaista Parvez delivered the contributory speech. Dean Dr. Shaji Thomas administered the Hippocratic Oath.

The Officiating Vice Chancellor of People’s University Dr. Neeraj Upamnyu, addressed the students. After which, the merit holders were awarded with gold, silver and bronze medals. Dr. Umma Zainab received the highest number of medals in the ceremony. The Graduates were then awarded their  degrees. Dr. Umma Zainab delivered the Vote of Thanks.

As the convocation concluded, the new doctors flooded outside the auditorium to share there joy with family and friends and taste the culinary spread served, in the sprawling PCDS Garden.


First B.D.S Batch Orientation Day 2017

On 30/11/2017, People’s College of Dental Sciences,Bhopal organized 1st yr BDS Orientation programme under the guidance of  the dean, Dr Shaji Thomas.

Dr Ajay Bhambal (Vice Dean), enlightened students with talk on facets of Academic excellence including attendance , passing marks, academic calendar and mentor mentee programme. This was followed by lecture on Administrative excellence by Dr Kartik Hegde (Prof, Dept of Oral medicine & Radiology), which included details of anti-ragging and code of conduct. Later Dr Preeti Nair (Prof & HOD, Dept of Oral medicine & Radiology) Chairman, WGRC, addressed the gathering on  sensitisation on women’s harassment and women’s grievance cell.  A video clipping on “Women’s grievance cell” was projected which was well received. A feedback has been circulated to obtain the audience’s response to the program.  . Students also participated with various song and dance and mimicry performances. The programme was concluded by vote of thanks to esteemed Dean and guest speakers by Dr. Sashi Bhushan Ekka.

World AIDS Awareness Day

The Department of Public Health Dentistry, People’s College of Dental Sciences, Bhopal observed the World AIDS day with distribution of red ribbon to all the health professionals in the college. With this, went a reminder to all the working medicos that proper precautions and preventive measures should be followed regularly so as to keep themselves protected in their work environment.

Children’s Day celebrations @PCDS


Children’s day was celebrated on 14th November with zest by the department of Pediatric & preventive dentistry, People’s College of Dental Sciences & Research Centre, Bhopal, which is also marked as Pedodontist’s day.

The programme commenced with a school dental health programme at Takshila Public School & Mapple Bear Kindergarten School, Rachna Nagar, Bhopal, where the oral health screening of toddlers, nursery students, classes 1 , 2 and 3 was done &oral hygiene instructions were given.

On this occasion, 90 students were invited from the Nitya Seva Society Orphanage to People’s College of Dental Sciences & Research Centre. We extend our special gratitude to Capt. Ambrish Sharma ( Director , Administration, People’s Group) for his constant support and encouragement to make this event a success.

Dr Shaji Thomas ( Dean, People’s College of Dental Sciences), welcomed the children by cake cutting which was followed by the talent show, singing and dancing competition in the PCDS auditorium. Dr Raina Jain, Dr Ankur Jain and Dr Babita were judges for the same.The children had a day full of cultural activities and fun filled interactions with the staff and students. A special meal for the day and gifts were distributed among all the children by the Head of department , Dr Parimala Tyagi and her entire staff. The event concluded with prize distribution for best performances.

World Radiography Day – November 8 2017

The world radiography day was commemorated by the Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology. People’s College of Dental Sciences by organizing a talk on ” Measures towards radiation protection for patients and personnel “. A banner was exhibited by the department which evoked positive response from patients and students.

A talk was delivered in the conference room with the main target audience being post graduate students, so as to help them reinforce their knowledge on background radiation. Emphasis was laid on the dosage of radiation as specified by the National Regulatory Bodies for Radiation Protection. The talk was interactive and well received.
