Department of prosthodontics, crown, bridge, and Implantology
On 26th October 2018, an intra-department academic program was organised by in Department of Prosthodontics, crown and bridge, and implantology, PCDS & RC in association with Colgate, Bhopal. Dr. Shipra Shukla, Final year PG, Department of Prosthodontics presented a Case series on Implant supported overdentures. Vishakha Vatsa, Intern won the Colgate quiz competition (organised by Colgate across the country) and was awarded with prize and certificate. Prize and certificates were distributed by Dr. Ajay Bhambal, Dean, and Dr. Benaiffer Agrawal, HOD, Department of Prosthodontics, Peoples college of dental sciences and research centre, Bhopal.
Election for the first B.D.S. Class representatives for academic year 2018 -19 batch was conducted in People’s college of dental science and research centre, Bhopal on 17th October 2018.Dr. Parimala Tyagi, Vice Dean, Professor and HOD of Paedodontics and Dr. Ami Desai from Department of Oral Pathology and Microbiology conducted election for the post of class representatives, cultural and sports representative.
For the post of first year female class representative among four candidates named –MISS KANCHI SAHU, MISS AAIMAN FATIMA PATHAN, MISS TOSHIKA BISONE, MISS NEHA KARAMCHANDANI; MISS AAIMAN FATIMA PATHAN was elected. And for the post of first year male class representative MR. ANAND PRAKHAR was elected unopposed. For the post of cultural representative among six candidates- MR RAJAT SHARMA, MISS TOSHIKA BISONE, MISS KSHIPRA KARAJGAONKAR, MISS SWATI SHARMA, MISS PRATIBHA MISHRA, MISS NEHA KARAMCHANDANI; MR. RAJAT SHARMA was elected as cultural representatives by achieving Maximum votes. For the post of Sports representative among two candidates- MISS TANIYA BALI and MISS HARSNA SAHU; MISS HARSHNA SAHU stood up with maximum votes and elected as sports representative of first year. Election procedure was done in a democratic manner and all candidates were selected by fair elections.
On 9th Oct,2018 the 8th graduation day of M.D.S. (Batch 2015-16) and 11th graduation day of BDS (Batch 2013-14) was organized by People’s College of Dental Sciences & Research Centre, People’s University. 86 UG students and 9 PG students were graduated on the occasion. Dr. Ajay Bhambhal, welcomed Dr. R. S. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Jabalpur Medical University who presided as chief guest. Dr. Akhilesh Pandey, Chairman of M.P. Private University Regulatory Committee as guest of honour, Megha Vijaywargia, Director People’s University graced the occasion. Dr. Swati Singh from the department of Prosthodontics, Crown & Bridge was the MDS topper and Dr. Simran Chabbra was the BDS topper of the college. Pledging of the oath was led by Dr. Rajesh Kapur Vice Chancellor of People’s University. Vote of thanks was given by Dr. Parimala Tyagi, Vice- Dean (Administration).
People’s College of Dental Sciences & Research Centre (PCDS & RC) held an orientation program on September 20, 2018 for the new batch of BDS students, on the very first day of reporting. The parents of new batch students were invited at PCDS & RC Auditorium to grace the occasion. Parents were welcomed, with a tilak by members of Student Council of PCDS & RC. Program began with lighting of lamp and Saraswati Vandana, followed by Introduction on PCDS & RC by Dr.Ajay Bhambal, Dean PCDS & RC through which students and parents were made aware of all the facilities provided in the institute. Dr. Parimala Tyagi, Vice Dean Administration and HOD Pedodontics, PCDS & RC presented a beautiful video on the inception and progress of Peoples University. Dr Swapnil, Vice Dean Academics, PCDS & RC informed about the academic structure and examination pattern of PCDS & RC. Dr Preeti Nair, HOD Oral Medicine & Diagnosis, made the audience aware about the Women Grievance Redressal Cell. Dr. Nair introduced the committee members of the cell and assured the parents that in People’s University their wards are safe with an active women grievances cell which takes care of sensitizing and resolving any type of harassment issues. Dr. Chandresh Shukla, Reader Orthodontics, PCDS & RC and member DCI, talked on anti-ragging measures and introduced all members of anti-ragging committee present in the institute. To these informative presentations on the orientation day, some motivating songs and dance sequences were added. The program was followed by high-tea. Parents appreciated the hospitality given to them.
An event “Future Dental Professionals” was conducted for the undergraduate and Postgraduate students of PCDS & RC and PDA in collaboration with Colgate Palmolive Ltd. on 1st August 2018. A total of 150 students attended the event which had enlightening lectures by Professor Dr. Preeti P. Nair, M.D.S, B.D.S.; Professor Dr. Bosco Thomas, M.D.S. B.D.S., Orthodontics and Dr. Syed Akhbar Ali, M.D.S. B.D.S, Orthodontic, on pain in Temporomandibular joints, introductive & interceptive orthodontics and periodontal considerations in orthodontics. The entire programme was organized and coordinated by Professor Dr. Parimala Tyagi, and Professor Dr. Swapnil Parlani, Department of Prosthodontics. The programme was graced by the presence of Dr. Tukaram Prabhu, Dean (Academic Affairs), People’s University, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh and Dr. Sumit Narang, Dean, People’s Dental Academy, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh
On 20th April 21, 2018 Women Grievance Redressal Committee, People’s College of Dental Sciences, Bhopal organized a talk aiming at the strengthening a woman’s stand in the society in trying to cope up with the present scenario.
Miss Shrishti Mallick, BA, LLB(LLM) from Symbiosis University, Pune was the resource person. She made the audience aware of the Vishaka and the Saksham guidelines by the honorable Supreme Court of India. She helped the female students and the faculty know their legal rights like the Dowry Prohibition Act (1961), the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act (2006), the Sexual Harassment of Women at Work Place Act (2013). She talked about women reservation, adultery, stalking, etc.
The programme was graced by the presence of Dean, PCDS & RC. Dr. Shaji Thomas, Registrar, Peoples University, Dr. Neerja Mallick and NCC coordinator, People’s University, Capt. Sumi Chaudhary. An audience of 120 participants which included teaching, non teaching staff and students, were benefited.
People’s College of Dental Sciences & Research Centre kicked off its sports and cultural extravaganza SOLASTA 2018 on 6 February by unfolding huge banners in the presence of the Dean, Dr Shaji Thomas and staff members. The students of all batches were very enthusiastic on the inaugural function.
The annual fest commenced on 17 February 2018 amidst smiling faces and racing hearts. It was inaugurated by Col Ashok Khurana sir ( Director, Planning & Development) in the presence of staff members and students.
A separate stall was dedicated to Bhopal organ donation society which is a not-for-profit, Non-governmental organization to promote organ donation. The students visited the stall and gathered information about the procedure and many were inspired to be potential donors.With ” Prom” as the theme for this year’s fest, the boys and girls dazzled in their outfits. Mr and Ms PCDS were crowned after the pageant.
The fun and celebrations will continue for a whole week and the PCDS fraternity looks forward to fun filled moments in sports and cultural activities.
On occasion of prosthodontist day ( 22 January), dept of prosthodontics, PCDS Bhopal, organised a event which had essay competition (Junior and senior category) on topic “God creates….We recreate”, Quiz/Dumb Charades competition for 1st to internship students. The winner of the essay compettitom was Ms Simran Chhabra ( Intern Batch). The quiz competition was won by First B.D.S Batch with the team compririsng of Shriya Mitna,Supriya Singh and Mehar Shrivastava. Screening of speciality promotional video issued by Indian Prosthodontics Society in college auditorium which was attended by entire staff, and students. Dr.BenaifferAgrawal, HOD addressed the students regarding the importance of world Prosthodontic day and discussed about various treatment modalities included in speciality. Dr.Shaji Thomas , Dean, were the chief guest of the function and congratulated for the successful completion of the event. The event was followed by high tea.
The Student Council Election for 2017-18 was conducted in a Democratic Procedure via Online Voting for an hour 12 am to 1 pm. Total 605 no of votes were registered to elect the members of council. For the post of Cultural President, equal amount of votes came in for two candidates so two members were elected for the post.

Then Victory was celebrated by all the Elected Members and their Supporters in the Campus. Thanks to all students and specially all nominated candidates for great support and enthusiasm.
The lifeline express, which is an NGO-managed hospital train, has been routinely conducting treatment camps. At Ghazipur, UP, located 55 kms from Benares, the lifeline express conducted a dental camp from the 8th to 16th of January, 2018. A 7-member team from the People’s College of Dental Sciences, Bhopal led by Dr Preeti Nair, Prof & Head, Dept of Oral Medicine & Radiology, successfully participated in the camp.The other members of the team included Dr Neha Gupta, Senior Lecturer, Dept of Oral Medicine & Radiology, Dr Ashwini Bhusari and Dr Nalini N R, PG students, Dept of Prosthodontics, Dr Swati Gurjar , Dept of Conservative & Endodontics, Dr Aashna Dhingra, Dept of Public Health Dentistry& Dr Pratiksh Pawar, PG student, Dept of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
About 1280 patients were examined and 520 patients were treated effectively. A school dental camp was conducted which saw a healthy interaction between the children and the doctors.
The members of the team were felicitated by the Railway Minister of UP, Mr Manoj Sinha. The camp was an eye opener in terms of the few cases of malignancy and precancer lesions with people showing signs of choosing to stay away from addictive substances. All in all it was an enriching experience to all.
