On Saturday, 4th November 2017, amidst the whirring of cameras and the clicking of shutters at People’s University, Bhopal, a fresh batch of post-graduates celebrated the epitome in their academic journey. On that very special day, People’s University hosted the Convocation Ceremony for the post-graduates of the dental stream, graduating with scrolls of their degree in Masters’ of Dental Surgery in their hand.
The occasion was graced by the presence of chief guest, the honourable Mr.Wasantha Senanayake (State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Government of Sri Lanka), Guests of Honour, Dr.Amal Harsha De Silva (Deputy Director of Health Services, Govt. of Sri Lanka) Mr. Surenthira Kunaratnae and Dr. Akhilesh Kumar Pande (Honourable Chairman, Madhya Pradesh, Private Universities),. The dignitaries were welcomed traditionally with flowers and vermilion by the Chancellor, People’s University, Mr. Suresh Vijaywargia and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. V K Pandya. The Directors of People’s Group, Capt. Ambrish Sharma and Ms. Megha Vijaywargia and Dr. Neerja Mallik, Registrar, People’s University, also welcomed the dignitaries.
The Dean of People’s College of Dental Sciences and Research Centre, Dr. Shaji Thomas and Dean of People’s Dental Academy, Dr. Sumit Narang were an integral part of the ceremony. The duties of the Master of the Ceremonies was performed by Dr. Chandresh Shukla, Associate Professor, Dept. of Orthodontics, People’s College of Dental Sciences and Research Centre and Dr. Ashwini Deshpande, Associate Professor, Dept. of Oral Medicine and Radiology, People’s Dental Academy.
The ceremony began with the traditional lamp lighting by the dignitaries followed by the Invocation to goddess Saraswathi sung by Ms. Shrisha Shivangi (student of People’s Dental Academy,). The ceremony was formally called open by the chief guest and the degrees were awarded after which they were administered their pledge and the Hippocratic Oath. As the convocation concluded, the fresh pass out’s flooded outside the auditorium to share their joy with family and friends and taste the culinary spread served.
